Labor Day Week ends BIG

The Whiting family moved into the folks' house and the fence is complete. Steven, Amy, Dave Dickey, and Brent were the finishers.
Steven, Monte, Jon and Blake Parkinson cut and bagged corn from Johnsonfarm corn patch.

Wellsville Founders' Day found daughter, Rebecca, with her Briarwood group (Austin Weyand and Tim Watkins).

We went to West Yellowstone to watch Brent and Marilyn in their square dancing Jamboree.

Earthquake mountain was interesting to visit close to West Yellowstone. This earthquake shook 4 states on August 17, 1959. Steven and Brent remembered it well.

Highlights of the summer

The pinnacle of the summer activities was attending the Brigham City Utah Temple groundbreaking, with President Boyd K. Packer officiating. What a special, anticipated building it will be. We would have never in our wildest dreams have thought this would happen. It will be open in fall of 2012.
Braden, Kort and Trae Fuller (http://www.rootbeerreunion.com/) entertain at the new Willow Park stage in Logan on July 24th. They are our local, yodeling fools!

Grandson, Braden Fuller and daughter, Becky, with Amy after a benefit game at Rice Eccles Stadium at the U of U campus, SLC. We sat in the wind and watched quite a game.

Amy at BYU Education Week with daughter, Rebecca, and Cousin Dorothy Krueger.

Amy and Sister Mary Ellen Edmunds after her Education Week presentation of "Choose Zion or Babylon?"

Antelope Island with Jeremy and Brandy camp. Gina brought Alex and Zach and we all fought the biting gnats!

Antelope Island doesn't just have antelope. The bison are BIG and beautiful!

Sienna Fuller (grand-daughter) participates in the horse arena at the Cache County Fair August 7, 2010. She loves horse riding.

The best way to see a 4th of July parade is in the shade, on the grass, under your truck tailgate. Just ask Steven. haha

Granddaughters love riding in the Honeyville 4th of July parade each year. Beautiful girls.

Sunrise Campground at Bear Lake is a favorite spot for our family to camp. We didn't want to leave.

Beautiful Bear Lake. One of our favorite family spots. We keep the sun off by dressing sensibly.

Most of the summer has been spent preparing Steven's parents' home for sale. There has been major backyard work and roofing done. We finally think it will close on the sale this week (2 Sept 2010). Maybe we'll have time to take a few days off and enjoy a relaxing trip somewhere. That would be nice!

Summertime activities with Sweden Missionaries and Couples--Not necessarily in chronological order.

We couldn't end off the summer without a visit to the Box Elder County Fair and Golden Spike Rodeo. The Wrights came along and found new cowboy hats to keep the sun off. It was great!
Elder Michael Peterson came home on the plane with the Nelsons and Larsons. This is what an Elder looks like when he "Returns with Honor."

Sisters again...Amy Johnson, Delia Larson, Bernice Nelson, Linda Wright.

Elders together again....Roger Larson, Steven Johnson, Steve Wright and Varr Nelson.

30 July 2010

Herreys are set apart as full-time missionaries again. They left Utah for Sweden 30 August 2010. Gotland---here they come!!!

Herreys and Wrights join us at Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville for an evening soak.

Always, Patsy Cline in Logan at the Lyric was fabulous. A Coppermill dinner before and pie at the Thunells afterward. Beautiful 28 July 2010.

The couples gathered at Johnsonfarm for dinner and then on to the Old Barn Community Theatre for "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers." Newly returned Larsons joined us.

Our old comp, Taylor Dawson marries Christin Moore on 20 Aug 2010.

Zach and Holly Jensen wedding 12 August 2010. Marcus Christensen came from Hawaii and Nathan Czuba came from Missouri.

Russell and Janelle Spjut. Married 13 May 2010. It's fun to see them at nearly all the wedding receptions and activities.

Brock & Michelle Jackson wedding 27 July 2010.

We have had so much fun with our family and the Sweden Mission couples this summer. Today, there was a chill in the air reminding us that fall is coming. We won't miss the hot wind we have had all summer, but we hope we have many more sunny days before the first snow. We aren't ready for that!

Clarkston Pony Express Race 19 June 2010

The beautiful buckle is added to the collection, making it the 4th straight win for our family in Clarkston.
Family members and Jockey Godfrey paused for photo after the race.

The Godfrey jockeys hand-off the mail pouch from Duke to Gracie as the two horses pass in front of the grandstand. These two awesome horses made two 3 mile track runs each to win First place in the Annual Clarkston City Pony Express Race on 19 June 2010. The horses are owned by Don & Raquel Johnson Fuller of Nibley.

Welcoming home our Office Elders

Riley Adamson is home in Sandy. How great it was to see him and his parents who had come to Sweden while we were still in the Mission. We attended his Mission report on 27 June 2010 in Draper.
Elder Christopher Loomis comes home to Blackfoot, Idaho. It was close enough for us to drive up and attend his homecoming. We loved it.

Getting together with our Mission Couples

6-26-2010-- I soon put on my capris and a T-shirt to cool down. Returned missionaries and native Swedes and YSA's joined us. There were more of our missionaries there, but we couldn't find them all when for the photoshoot.
It wasn't long before I was hot and sweaty in my dress, but I wasn't the only one there in one. People really keep up their tradition of dress and flowers. We ate a delicious Viking feast after the program. It was most delicious!

On June 26, we attended the Swedish midsommer festival in SLC at the International Peace Gardens. The Maj pole was beautiful, and we danced around it and sang all the traditional songs.

On June 21, all the Sweden mission couples gathered at the Don & Anna Joy Watts home in Centerville for a magnificent traditional Swedish meal and conversation.

Wrights can swing dance. We still need some practice with the line dancing.

Watts supported us with their yummy baked beans and wonderful company.

Rosevears are great sports at the Johnsonfarm Honeyville Barn Dance.

Our Barn made a great place for young people and old alike to have a good time with food and dance on May 8.

Willy Herrey's 80th birthday party on May 13 brought us all to Salt Lake City. Marilyn Pearson, Liz Rosevear, Gerd Herrey, Amy Johnson, Linda Wright and Anna Joy Watts.

Our Swedish Couple, Gerd and Willy Herrey, came to Honeyville for a evening visit. We wanted to keep them! They are heading back to Gotland for a third mission.

Scandinavian Days in Ephraim at Snow College on 28 May 2010 with Linda and Steve Wright.

Kiawanis presentation at Maddox Ranch House

Soon after we returned from our mission, we were asked to present about Sweden at Brigham City Kiawanis meeting. It was fun to be an ambasador for our ancestor land.

Sweden Couples get together

The Thunells made us aware of their son playing the part of Pharaoh in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Old Barn Community Theatre in Collinston, Utah. Some of us got together and went. We were not disappointed. It was a super production. The Watts, Pearsons and Thunells joined us afterward for milk and cookies at Johnsonfarm. What a blessing being on a Sweden Mission was. We love our couples we served with!

Steven and Amy Johnson with their Office trainers, Anna Joy and Don Watts.

We are enjoying the time we can spend with our Sweden missionaries now that they are home from Sweden, too. Wrights and Rosevears came home in January and we had a nice gathering in Bountiful. We have so many wonderful new friends because of our mission. All of you couples out there---Get ready and go!
