We were released by President Steven Laing at the Brigham City North Stake Center that afternoon and arrived back at our home with our children and grandchildren waiting. What a beautiful day! Our Mission is over.
We flew out of Stockholm on 20 November 2009. The Andersons took us to our early flight (6:40 AM) and made sure there were no problems before leaving the airport. We arrived in Brigham City, Utah with all of that luggage. The trip from Arlanda Sweden to Paris to Salt Lake City on Air France and Delta was an amazing trip. We were cared for by wonderful stewardesses and found a fellow Honeyville-ite on the same flight from Paris direct to SLC International. Ryan Hammer gave us first class attention by helping with our bags and letting us use his cellphone. He was our guardian angel. We were greeted at the airport by our former trainers, Don & Anna Joy Watts, and brother, Bryan Johnson. Elder Johnson's brother, Brent, and his wife (Marilyn) picked us up in his Cummins Diesel truck to haul everything to Brigham City.
Our farewell dinner with the Wrights (Linda and Steve, Center for Young Adults) and President and Syster Anderson was delicious and fun. Of course, salmon was the main along with delicious veggies and plum pudding. The Mission Home is a beautiful place to be. We'll miss them all and are amazed and appreciate their great service.
We had the privilege of having Maja (optometrist) in our apartment for dinner and a teach with the assistants. She is investigating the Church and has been a good friend, helping us with our glasses problems and attending General Conference with us last Spring. We love her!
Former Office elders, Drake and Glenn, stop in to say good-bye during transfers. How great it is to see them!
Elder Braedon Blaylock arrived in Sweden on 17 November. Elder Johnson is looking into the ancestor connection with John Quincy Blaylock. We welcomed him to the Mission.
Ingrid Lund stopped by for a quick good-bye. She was so helpful in translating for Syster Johnson in Church. We hope her family can come and see us sometime in Honeyville.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, Rosi was towed off the second day we had her. There was a mechanical defect from the factory. It was fixed and back in our lot before we left Sweden. The automatic transmission will be great for those elders who come with no stick-shift skills.
Elder Johnson stands beside the last vehicle he was in charge of buying for the Mission. In the 18 months we were there, he helped purchase 16 cars and a van. He now has the system of buying and selling cars in Sweden down to a science. The van's name is "Rosi Red."
Anne Rosenlund, her daughter Ingrid, husband and children (Emma and Axel), along with faithful neighbor, Anna-Lena Boden gave us a wonderful send-off dinner at Anne's country home in Riala. Anne had woven a beautiful Christmas table runner for us. We loved visiting them once a month with the missionaries. They are the stalwarts of the Ward. How we love them and will miss them!
